Served as a trial lawyer representing both plaintiff and defense with transactional experience in matters ranging from real estate, construction, construction defect, personal injury, employment, professional malpractice, land use, landlord tenant, and Home Owner Association law. Serve as general counsel for developers, real estate agencies, Home Owner Associations, and contractors.

Active trial practice involving thousands of depositions, hundreds of trials, arbitrations, and mediations, and thousands of individual matters. Regular representation of residential building owners, Home Owner Associations, commercial owners, commercial owners, institutional owners, and government entities.
Extensive Experience as a Mediator in matters for AAA, Arbitration Service of Portland, and Court Appointed Mediator by Oregon Circuit Courts. Diverse experience on both sides as a litigator as well as a neutral. Regularly mediate cases involving real estate, construction, personal injury, product liability, premises liability, employment, professional malpractice, and Home Owner Association issues. Experience as an advocate and mediator/arbitrator spans over 25 years in Oregon and Washington and thousands of individual matters ranging from a few thousand dollars to over 20 million dollars. Multi Party litigation, mediation and arbitration is a regular part of practice.
I view mediation as one of the only opportunities for parties to control the outcome of their case or dispute. I view the mediator’s role to be more than a mere facilitator or message carrier, rather I believe a good mediator takes on an evaluative role to provide insight on how an experienced trial attorney and arbitrator views the strengths and weaknesses of both sides. At the end of the day, great mediators use their skills to resolve matters doing what it takes to find creative solutions.
